Yes, it's sexy and cool, but Apple's iPad has way too many faults to consider it as a laptop or netbook replacement.
No multi-tasking? Seriously?
That would be fine in a tablet from 1992, but 2010?
I am one of those Net guys who has a poker table, AOL messenger, a few tabs in Firefox and iTunes open at one time almost every night.
The thought of only being able to run one application seems ridiculous.
Not to mention the fact that I can only use the iPad at home, unless I want to pay $130 for 3G coverage (and then another $30-40 a month to the carrier, Bell, Rogers or whomever).
For the first time in a long time, I wonder if Apple dropped the ball. This company is usually bullet-proof. This time, not so much.
A fully tricked-out iPad will cost nearly $1,000 ... and that doesn't include 3G coverage.
Frankly, in my opinion, if you're an Apple fan, you're better off just getting a MacBook.

I don't care... I am getting one as soon as I can... Microsoft's days are numbered.
ReplyDeleteThis is not an Apple or Microsoft opinion. I just want to run the programs I want to run when I want.
ReplyDeleteApple's OS X 10 does it. So do Windows 7, Vista and XP.
I'll be damned if I pay $500 to $1,000 for a computer that can run only run one program at a time ... then pay another $15 to $50 a month (whatever Canadian cell providers charge) just to use the tablet.
